A scoop-neck pyjama top in modal single jersey, printed with a scattered dot in a soft off-white. The neckline is wide and shallow rather than a deep V, the sleeve is long and finishes at the wrist, and the body skims rather than clings. Modal is the reason the cloth falls like this: it drapes closer to viscose than to cotton, but keeps a cooler, drier surface against the skin. Shown in blush with white dots; ground colour, dot size and density can all be reset.
Fabric & Print — Dotted Modal Pajama Top
Modal is a regenerated cellulose fibre spun from beech pulp. Its fineness is what gives the fabric its drape, and its weakness is that fine modal jersey shows every tension change. Cutting a printed jersey means the print and the seam have to agree: if the panel is cut slightly off-grain, a horizontal dot line will run downhill across the body. So the panel is relaxed for a full shift before cutting, cut single-layer for print registration, and sewn with a small overlock allowance so the neckline does not wave. The dots are printed rather than knitted in, which keeps the base cloth soft where it meets the skin.
