From Reference Image to Bulk Production: A Cotton-Modal Pajama Case Study
A customer came to KoalaPurr with a design reference image for a long-sleeve pajama top and matching long pants. We developed the set from that image, revised the fabric and fit during sampling, and took the project through to bulk production.
The customer's identity and original design remain confidential. This case focuses on the development work we can share: a shorter top, a closer fit, and a change from pure cotton to a cotton-modal blend.

Starting with a Design Reference
The customer initially supplied a reference image as the starting point for development. It gave our team a visual direction for the two-piece set, which we used to develop the pattern and make a physical sample.
A reference image can show the intended style, but the sample gives the customer something tangible to review. In this project, the changes made during sampling concerned both the proportions of the garment and the feel of the fabric.

Revising the Fabric and Fit
The original fabric choice was pure cotton. During development, it was replaced with a cotton-modal blend to give this pajama set a softer, more comfortable feel. That change became part of the final version used for bulk production.
We also shortened the top and adjusted the fit to sit closer to the body. The long-sleeve top and long-pants combination stayed the same, while these revisions changed the proportions and how the set fitted.
For a simple pajama style, those details make a noticeable difference. Here, the development work focused on refining the basic garment through fabric choice, length and fit.
Moving into Bulk Production
The project progressed beyond sampling to bulk production. The final version combined the cotton-modal fabric with the revised top length and closer fit.
KoalaPurr handled both sample development and garment manufacturing for the project. With our own development and production teams, we could coordinate the work from the initial reference image through to the bulk order.

A Starting Point for Your Own Project
This project shows how a reference image can provide a starting point for custom pajama development. Sampling gives the idea a physical form and creates an opportunity to refine it before committing to a bulk order.
If you have a pajama style in mind, send us your reference images and any fabric or fit preferences. We can discuss the development details and provide a quote based on your requirements.
