What Modal Brings to
a Sleepwear Collection
Modal is a wood-derived regenerated cellulose fiber. In sleepwear, it is often chosen for a smooth hand and a fluid drape that gives simple shapes a softer outline.
A smooth feel against the skin
A soft surface suits garments worn close to the body, from sleep tees to nightgowns with minimal detailing.
Drape that shapes the silhouette
Fluid fabric follows pleats, gathers and wide legs. It gives a different result from the crisp outline of a woven pajama shirt.
Room to vary the collection
Compare modal blends and knit structures for a lighter sleep dress, a stretch top or a more substantial lounge set.
Modal Fabric Options for Your Designs
Tell us how you want the garment to feel and fit. Our team can help you compare modal blends, then narrow down the construction and weight for your sample.
| Blend direction | What to compare | Styles to explore |
|---|---|---|
| Modal + Elastane / Spandex | Stretch, recovery and how closely the fabric follows the body. | Stretch pajama sets, camisoles and closer-fitting tops. |
| Cotton + Modal | The balance of cotton feel, softness and drape. | Everyday pajama sets, sleep shirts and relaxed homewear. |
| Other Modal Blends | Hand feel, surface texture and your target cost. | Discuss a suitable fabric around your reference style. |
Composition and construction are separate choices.
A jersey or rib structure changes the look and stretch of the fabric. We confirm suitable options, blend ratios, weight and colors during sourcing.

What We Review in a
Modal Sleepwear Sample
A swatch shows the surface and feel. A garment sample shows how the neckline sits, how the trousers fall and whether the details work together.
We agree the relevant sample checks and any testing requirements with you around the chosen fabric and product.
Drape & Coverage
Review how the fabric falls through the body and how much coverage it gives, especially in lighter colors.
Shape & Recovery
Look at the neckline, cuffs and waistband, including how they sit after stretching during normal dressing.
Seams & Trims
Check for flat seams, smooth piping and trim that moves comfortably with the surrounding fabric.
After-Wash Appearance
Include wash assessment in your approval requirements to review measurements, surface appearance and hand feel.
