We set the elastic at a ratio that keeps the blouson hanging just clear of the pant waist, then confirm it on a fit model in motion rather than standing still. The jogger cuff is a second pressure point, because an elasticated cuff on a fluid jersey has to be stabilised with a narrow tape or it twists in the wash; the cuff is finished with a covered seam so no elastic edge touches the skin. Modal jersey is relaxed for twenty-four hours before cutting, cut on a widened block, and the finished set is washed so the blouson settles at its final drop. The drawcord is a flat cotton tape rather than a cord, so it knots without slipping and holds its shape in the dryer.
