Custom Women's Brushed Ribbed Pajama Shorts
A single pair of sleep shorts in a brushed rib knit, cut to mid thigh with a covered elastic waist gathered into soft folds. Rib is a structure, not a print: the wale is knitted vertically through the cloth, so the short is textured before it is coloured, and the brushed interior gives it a warm hand without the weight of a fleece. Because the waist is gathered rather than flat-fronted, the elastic channel is set on a slightly narrower band than the body, which is what produces the soft fold over the hip instead of a cinched line. Shown in chocolate brown; the ground colour, stitch scale and waist depth can all be reset.
Stitch & Waist — Ribbed Knit Shorts
Rib is one of the few sleepwear knits where the machine decides the surface. The wale is formed by two needle sets working against each other - the face needles knit, the backing needles purl - so the short has to be cut on the straight grain and the panels matched at the side seam, or the vertical lines step across the seam and the surface reads as a broken stripe. The brushed interior is raised after knitting, which softens the hand but also removes some of the stitch definition - so the brushing is kept light on the face and heavier on the inside, and the two sides are specified separately. The waistband is a covered elastic set into a gathered channel; the gather is distributed by section rather than pulled evenly, so the folds fall the same way at front and back. Because rib relaxes after the first wash, the block is cut with a shrinkage allowance and the finished short is washed before packing, so the mid-thigh length arrives where it was specified.
